To RIGGED contests.

There is no way a contest judged solely on faves will be fair. A lackluster submission by a popular artist will win on flunkie faves alone and a really great talented but not-well-known artist's work far superior will lose because no one knows who the artist is to fave the work. That is not fair and any such contest should be BOYCOTTED. The only way a contest is fair is if the art alone is judged and therefore necessarily decoupled from any existing popularity of the submitting artist! So a fair contest should not reveal the submitting artist until after voting is concluded.



Ugh.

The painful assignment is done but my eyes seem to be paying the price...
They are all buggy now from my artistic-gotta-squint-at-it-just-right mode.

Come week four, which I am now 1 week past due I'm realizing I have no mind eye inspiration whatsoever right now. The timing is bad because it means I won't have a drawing for the course homework. And I just know the day after it's too late (the absolute maximum is 5 weeks) will be when a too-little-too-late idea will finally trickle its way in...

This is the story of my life. I should have known by now I was not meant to have a career or any other sort of worldly accomplishments in this life. Nothing ever, ever, EVER works out for me. I don't know where to go with life now. I've failed on all fronts.

Guess I'll just stick to helping others since nothing I ever try to do for my own self seems to ever work out. Again, story of my life.

No one in the world seems really interested in buying what limited things I have to sell. I do not have what it takes to make it in the crush-everyone-else world we are increasingly living in.</sub>

The MU Manga Course arrived on Tuesday so the first week is spent getting to know the manga pen. Try handwriting cursive with a manga pen sometime. It's rather difficult for me.

I have mechanical pencils now and a good ruler.
Still trying to get myself drawing more insh-Allah.

In other news there isn't much else to say other than it seems I am still in a funk in all areas. They say the economy is better but really it isn't because there is still no support to retrain people into careers, no support for higher education (riba [interest] loans are NOT supporting one's education since it just results in much hardship and debt deficiency after) in an age where the Bachelor degree is the new high school diploma, widespread corruption (great idea there BC government holding back library support funds), medical care falling through the floor and too many other woes to mention without making a 12-volume encyclopaedic set. In short I'm really getting nowhere fast and my inspiration is as low as its ever been.



2009.08.08: I have a story script worked up to about page 7. I just need to wrestle the details a bit to help me figure out how best to lay it out panel wise (how many panels, and how to arrange them, etc). I'm as green as a seasick frog in this area. Anyone able to help?

Personal circumstance is leaning me in the direction that I should really start expressing the game's story as manga. I need to shift direction for a while from all the game programming complexities and reflect more about the story I have wanted to tell. I don't deal with words well so (why is a really long story) it necessarily means I must work to reawaken my drawing ability that went on hiatus when I spent my teens studying computer programming. This kind of storytelling has always been better for me visually.



House sitting for Mom and stepdad again this weekend. And two more times after, with the final trip being the long weekend at the beginning of September.



It is grossly hot out right now, in the low 30s with thunder risk. Ugh I hope it's not going to be like in late August!

So this next round of house sitting is with very limited internet since it seems my parent's ISP gives them very bad internet. First they thought it was their tower so now they have that in the shop so I brought my laptop (which has no problems on the net at home) and it's going just as slowly meaning it wasn't my parent's tower to begin with it was the ISP. Of course their techs always blame it on the customer's hardware and thus refuse to send out a technician to diagnose the problem.

I'm due to be done with the house sitting Monday, probably in the evening.

Until then I may not be around much here, nor on MSN, or even hotmail (for email) since it is victim to the misbehaving internet at my parents' place right now.

*Zue: I now know how you feel when streamscreamyx acts up and gives you awful slowness. And the heat. And the headaches.
